The five-star training facility is the newest tenant of The Chilterns and neighbours the premier residential development on Paddington Street; open to both professionals and amateurs looking for an elite space to “train like a champion”.
Founded by the biggest name on the boxing scene right now, Anthony Joshua, BXR is the number one place to train in London. A host of sports moguls and celebrities were the driving force behind BXR, such as music producer Mark Ronson, boxing promoter Eddie Hearn, and Victoria’s Secret models Sara Sampaio and Maryna Linchuk. Already, stars including singer Ellie Goulding and footballer Héctor Bellerín have been spotted at BXR; with more than 12,000 sq. ft. spanning two floors with deluxe training space, an authentic boxing ring, an in-house clinic and juice bar, it’s not difficult to see why this is now the hottest gym in the capital right now.
Some of the boxing industry’s most respected coaches and health experts have been handpicked to be a part of the team that brings a truly first-class fitness experience. Ex-professional boxer Gary Logan heads up the boxing squad at BXR, whilst one of the leading experts on boxing injuries, Dr Mike Loosemore, oversees the clinic – powered by the Centre for Health and Human Performance (CHHP). Fitness bees will definitely be in the best place with specialist osteopaths and physiotherapists on hand.
With its Central London location and tagline as ‘London’s Supreme Boxing Gym’, it’s no surprise that this place looks as impressive as the facilities it offers. Step inside and members are welcomed with an interior design that oozes urban edginess coupled with a few vintage touches. With industrial-style features including exposed brick and concrete walls, a wooden-framed boxing ring and graffiti artwork, the interiors make it clear that this is not a place for the faint-hearted retreat-seeker; it’s where people come to train and train hard. For inspiration, the walls are decked with bespoke murals of Sugar Ray Leonard, Joe Frazier and Muhammad Ali.
Visitors and members are surrounded by high-quality equipment and high-tech accessories to enhance their fitness experience, including TPI Sound speakers – featured in Ibiza superclubs – and a smartphone app to help members track their progress. BXR is also the sole UK distributor of Di Nardo boxing gloves, which are made-to-measure exclusively for members and handcrafted in Italy.
Whilst boxing is a focal feature of this luxury gym, there’s so much on offer here to appeal to those just looking to improve their fitness. On the ground floor there’s a dedicated cardio zone accompanied by strength training equipment provided by Hammer Strength. Upstairs, there’s yet even more state-of-the-art cardio equipment, as well as strength and technique studios, in addition to a steam room, sauna and the BXR Clinic. If that wasn’t enough, once gym bunnies have finished their intense workouts they can head into the lounge to find Joe & The Juice for energising smoothies and snacks for an ultra-healthy pick-me-up.
When setting out his objectives for BXR, Anthony Joshua said he wanted members to “train like I train”, and following a successful launch earlier this year, BXR is sure to have a bright future ahead as a world-class London gym.
